Review

Four years have passed since the release of Rain's debut album, "House Of Cards" and seemingly, these were four quiet ones as such. At long last, however, the sophomore platter "Stronger" has found its way into the stores, and I'm pleased to say that it does, in fact, live up to its title, improving on a predecessor that was a solid effort in itself.

Musically, Rain reminds me of Bon Jovi, and I suppose nobody will be particularly surprised to learn that there are distinct traces of Jaded Heart in there, too. From uptempo rockers to soft melodic rock with an acoustic edge, the songs mostly mimic the classic 80s AOR style, with a few tracks sporting a slight modern feel to them.

"Do You Like It", "Get Over It" and "Let Me Be Your Favorite" all see Michael Bormann combine the best elements from his previous band with the uptempo pace that Swiss rockers Gotthard also pull off very well. "I'd Die For You", "The Other Side" and "Lovesong" would, on the other hand, have sat comfortably on a Bon Jovi album - check the titles again for ample proof, indeed!

More proof to boot: I have been playing "Stronger" over and over again since I got it a couple of weeks ago and it's evolving into something of a house favourite. The hooks are memorable and the choruses ditto - high quality AOR at its best.
